Where God Met Us Along the Way

As this Outback season comes to an end, I’ve been reflecting on God’s faithfulness through every place we’ve travelled and every person we’ve encountered. I’m reminded that missions is not just about preaching or leading ministry, but about faithfully saying “yes” to whatever God places in front of me, whether that looks like serving children, cleaning a church, baking cookies, or simply listening to someone’s story.

This month took us from Kununurra to Yiyili, where we served through kids ministry and the church convention. Returning to Kununurra brought unexpected car troubles, but God still created opportunities to serve through painting a mural and baking for others. In Fitzroy Crossing and Derby, we continued serving through evangelism, prayer walks, children’s ministry, visiting communities, and helping with church services.

In Broome, our lectures challenged me to think about what it truly means to live a missional life. I was reminded that missions is not limited to certain places or roles, but is a lifestyle of carrying Jesus’ heart wherever He has placed us.

Throughout this season, God has shown me that ministry often happens in ordinary moments. Whether through conversations, serving behind the scenes, or simply being present with people, every act of obedience matters when it is done for Him.

3 Glimpses of Joy:

Baking cookies in Kununurra and experiencing the simple joy of serving others through something made with love and care.

Celebrating Christmas in July in Broome and sharing moments of laughter, fellowship, and thankfulness with the people around me.

Spending time with the children at the church convention, watching them learn their memory verse, sing together, and grow in their understanding of God's love was such a beautiful reminder of the importance of investing in the next generation.

2 Lessons Along the Way:

I've learnt the importance of making genuine connections with people. Sometimes loving others simply means slowing down, listening well, and helping them feel seen, heard, and valued through our conversations and actions.

Missions doesn't always look extraordinary. Sometimes it looks like cleaning a church, serving behind the scenes, helping with practical needs, or faithfully showing up wherever God has called us. Every act of service matters in the Kingdom of God.

1 Thing I'm Trusting God With

I'm trusting God with becoming more like Jesus. In seasons where I'm often thinking about what He is calling me to do next, He has been gently reminding me that His greatest desire is first to shape who I am. I'm learning that my calling begins with abiding in Him and allowing Him to transform my heart. I trust that as I continue to walk in obedience, He will faithfully reveal each next step in His perfect timing.
